HTTP Server (Web Server)

To configure your HTTP server, click on the Setup button, and then select the Server tab.

Webcam server name: Webcam Watchdog detects and displays your IP address(es) automatically. You may select an IP address from the list or type in a name/IP. If you connect to Internet via IP Masquerade, you can input the IP address, which is accessible from the external network. (Note: Your domain name or IP address must be accessible from the external network. Otherwise people in the external network won't be able to access to your Webcam Watchdog server.)



  • HTML filename
    The filename for Webcam Watchdog generated HTML page.


  • Create log file
    Webcam Watchdog creates log file for you to track who accesses your website. You can enable this feature by checking the Enable logging box.


  • Port
    The default port used by Webcam Watchdog is 80. You may choose other port if the default is being used by other software (e.g. Microsoft PWS).


  • Web page folder
    You may change the folder of your HTML document folder.


  • Authentication


  • Firewall or router
    If your computer is behind a firewall, router or proxy, please check this box and enter the external IP address. (Note: IP address such as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x is used for LAN only.)


Video settings for remote access

JPEG filename: Webcam Watchdog captures image and saves it in JPEG format. You may change the filename of the image.

Frame rate
The frame rate and picture size/quality often depends on your connection speed. You may want to use the following table as a reference for setting up the parameters.

Modem 56 K     1 frame for every 5 seconds
Cable modem  1 frames/sec 1 frame for every 1 second
ADSL 1 frames/sec 1 frame for every 1 second
T1 3 frames/sec 1 frame for every 0.5 second
